WhatsApp automation for e-commerce stores
Your customers already message you on WhatsApp. I build AI agents that answer product, order and delivery questions in seconds, recover abandoned carts, confirm COD orders and win back quiet buyers, connected to Shopify, WooCommerce or Google Sheets.

What can WhatsApp automation do for an online store?
It answers the questions your team repeats all day, like order status, delivery times, sizes and stock, and it runs the follow-ups nobody has time for: abandoned cart reminders, COD confirmations, lead follow-ups and win-back messages. Everything runs from your real store data and hands anything unusual to a human.
- AI replies to product, order and delivery questions, day and night
- Abandoned cart reminders with a direct link back to checkout
- COD confirmation before you ship, so fewer parcels come back
- Lead follow-up from Instagram, Facebook and website DMs (see DM automation)
- Win-back messages for repeat buyers who have gone quiet
- Alerts to your team for new orders, low stock, hot leads and complaints

Can a WhatsApp AI chatbot work with Shopify?
Yes. An n8n workflow connects the WhatsApp Business API to your Shopify store. When a customer asks about an order, the AI agent looks it up by order number or phone and replies with the real status. Store events like an abandoned checkout or a new COD order can trigger messages too.
How does abandoned cart recovery on WhatsApp work?
When a shopper leaves checkout after entering their phone number and agreeing to messages, a workflow waits a set time, checks the order wasn't completed, then sends an approved WhatsApp template with a link back to their cart. If they reply with a question, the AI answers it on the spot.

How does COD confirmation on WhatsApp work?
Every new cash-on-delivery order triggers a WhatsApp message with the items, total and address, plus Confirm and Change buttons. Confirmed orders are tagged for dispatch, changes go to your team, and unanswered orders get a reminder or a call from an AI voice agent before anything ships.
More detail: COD order confirmation: how to automate it and reduce returns.
What happens when the AI doesn't know the answer?
It says so and passes the chat to your team instead of guessing. I set clear rules for what the agent may answer, which data it may use, and when it must hand over, for example complaints, refunds above a limit or anything not in your store data.
Workflow diagrams
What do the WhatsApp automations look like inside?
Each flow starts from a signal in your store and ends with a logged outcome. These are the n8n node chains I build, simplified.
Abandoned cart recovery on WhatsApp
- Checkout abandoned: Shopify / WooCommerce
- Wait 1 hour: shopper may still buy
- Order placed?: stop if yes
- WhatsApp reminder: approved template + link
- AI answers replies: sizes, delivery, stock
- Logged to Sheets: sent · replied · bought
COD order confirmation
- New COD order: Shopify / WooCommerce
- Validate: phone + address
- WhatsApp confirmation: Confirm / Change / Cancel
- Customer reply: or no reply
- Outcomes: Confirm → dispatch, Change → AI updates, Cancel → restock, No reply → AI call
Win-back for repeat buyers
- Daily check: schedule
- Find quiet buyers: no order in X days
- Opted in, not messaged: duplicate check
- AI personalises: last product bought
- WhatsApp template: a reason to come back
- Log outcome: sent · replied · ordered
Before and after
What changes when WhatsApp runs on automation?
Without automation
- Customers wait for someone to come online
- Cart follow-ups happen by hand, when someone remembers
- COD orders ship unconfirmed and some come back
- Quiet repeat buyers never hear from you
With WhatsApp AI automation
- Order and product questions get an instant answer from your data
- Every opted-in cart gets one timely reminder, with stop rules
- Every COD order is confirmed, changed or cancelled before dispatch
- Repeat buyers get a personal reason to come back
Getting started
What you need to get started
Nothing technical on your side. I set it up with you, in your own accounts.
A WhatsApp Business API number
Connected through your Meta business account. It can be a new number or one you move over from the WhatsApp Business app.
Access to your store data
Shopify or WooCommerce API access, or a Google Sheet of orders and products for simpler setups.
Your answers and policies
Shipping, returns, sizing and FAQs. The AI answers from these, in your tone.
Opt-in matters. WhatsApp requires customers to agree to receive messages from you, and business-initiated messages use Meta-approved templates. I build opt-in capture into checkout or chat flows so your automations stay within the rules.
Demo build
See it working: WhatsApp AI agent for e-commerce
My demo store agent runs on a live WhatsApp number. A message comes in, an AI agent (OpenAI) reads it, looks the order up in a Google Sheet, and replies with the real status, product details or return steps. It replies in English or Roman Urdu, matching the customer, and it is instructed never to invent order details.

Frequently asked questions
Is WhatsApp automation allowed by WhatsApp's rules?
Yes, when it's done through the official WhatsApp Business Platform with customer opt-in. Customers must agree to hear from you, and messages sent outside the 24-hour window after a customer's last message must use templates Meta approves. See the WhatsApp Business policy.
What does WhatsApp automation cost to run each month?
You pay the providers directly: Meta for WhatsApp messages where charges apply, your AI provider (OpenAI or Gemini) for usage, and n8n for hosting. Meta's charges depend on country and message category, see Meta's WhatsApp pricing page. There is no monthly fee to me unless you want ongoing support.
Can I keep answering some chats myself?
Yes. The AI handles the routine questions and hands over anything it isn't sure about, like complaints, custom requests or high-value buyers. Your team gets an alert with the context, so nobody has to scroll back through the chat.
Does it work with Shopify and WooCommerce?
Yes. n8n connects to both, so the agent can read orders, products and customer details, and store events like a new COD order or an abandoned checkout can trigger messages. Simpler stores can start with a Google Sheet as the order source.
Which languages can it reply in?
My demo agent replies in English or Roman Urdu, matching the customer. Other languages, including Arabic, are discussed in the audit and tested with real sample questions before launch.
How long does a build take?
It depends on how many workflows you choose and how quickly WhatsApp API access is approved for your number. After the free audit you get a written plan with the scope, timeline and price before any work starts.
